This morning our group of 12 volunteers arrived in the small village of Las Palmas, about 15 minutes outside of the city of Tela. When we discovered that our supplies and contractor had not arrived yet, the girls (Kim, Megan & Emily) and I followed several local children down the muddy lane to their town water source, a spout pouring into a concrete trouth. A nearby washboard was piled high with laundry and chickens picked at our feet. Across the lane cows grazed in the high grass. After filling several soda and milk jugs, the girls helped carry the water back to their homes.
