Inspirational Inauguration 2009

From a cozy restaurant in Puebla, Mexico, we watched the 44th President Barack Obama being sworn in before the packed mall in Washington DC. We were the only diners and so our hosts generously tuned in FOX TV for the occassion. During these hopeful, challenging times; we are grateful for the inspirational new leadership beckoning in a new era of public accountability and personal responsibility. In the meantime, Kim reports her tooth is loose; Dave is gloating over the fact that the Steelers will be playing in the Super Bowl on his birthday; and we are all heading by bus to Mexico City where we´ll spend the night in the airport before catching an early morning flight to Honduras (via San Salvador). We look forward to joining the other volunteers from Shelburne/Charlotte participating in the "Hands to Honduras" service project. We`ll send more new from there. Cheers!

So glad you were able to hear the President's speech and watch the celebration. It is still going on as I write this message, and I am wondering how the Obamas will have the strength to attend ten balls in just a few short hours (they have fallen way behind schedule), but they are young and oh so resourceful. Life is looking up for Americans! Love, Mom/El/G.ma
