Artic Ground Squirrel

[a.k.a - BFC = Bottom of the Food Chain or everybody's lunch!] This cute little fellow lives in burrows throughout the Park. We watched a young Grizzly Bear hop and dig for this snack for quite some time. Then when we returned, the bear was napping happily in the sun!

The squirrels here are Rocky Mountain Ground Squirrels, better known as "pot guts." They are rare because you find them only above 7000', but up here they are vermin. I love them anyway! Cute little buggers that look like grey prairie dogs.
